Stateless Request

The table is still visible in the chat. Why does the AI not know what to do when I send only “continue”?

A stateless request is a model call that uses only what it receives this time and does not automatically retain prior input or resultsIf one request creates a table and the next contains only “continue,” the model does not know which table to continue. The product may save the table and chat, but it must include the current goal, table, and relevant result again.

Why does a second request containing only “continue” lack a task?

Request 1

task: Shorten the heading
title: Quick-Start Guide for Beginners

Response: Beginner’s Guide

Next call

Request 2message: ContinueResponse: Continue what?

How the next request gets the earlier table

The model receives only this request: If the second call contains only “continue,” it lacks the earlier table, goal, and result.

The product retrieves saved material: The application can recover the current table, unfinished goal, and prior result from its records.

The new request includes what is needed: The application sends that material with “continue,” giving the model enough context this time.

You can say this to an AI Agent

Treat every model call as stateless: send the current task, required data, relevant history, and expected output. Do not send only Continue or rely on visible messages; inspect the actual request for required context.

A server receives only Continue the previous table, with no table or prior result in the request. How should the model get context?

A. Have the application attach the current table, goal, and relevant prior result to each requestB. Send only Continue and let the model recover previous content from the user accountC. Keep the old table visible in the chat UI without adding it to the new request
