Object Storage
Where do user-uploaded profile pictures actually go?
Object storage holds a complete file object under an object key. The article row in the database is separate data.
Whole files go to object storage: In this example, images, videos, and attachments are stored as objects; the article record keeps a related object key or address, while access depends on the project's permission setup.
Structured text goes to the database: In this example, the database record holds queryable article fields such as title, author, and status along with the related object key; the page then requests the cover according to the project's access setup.
Storage split in this example: This example keeps article fields that need queries in the database and stores the cover file as an object. Other architectures should be chosen based on query, transaction, and file-access needs.
You can say this to an AI Agent
For this article example, store the uploaded cover as an object and keep the title, ownership, status, and object key or address in the database record. Check the project's existing access-control design, then upload a cover and confirm it still displays after refresh.
