Monitoring

You might say

After release, monitor login error rate and checkout success rate; alert above a threshold and show which version was running then.

Monitoring continuously observes production metrics, logs, and alerts to find anomalies and judge system health.A login error rate can cross a threshold, trigger an alert, and connect its time window, request logs, and running version. This provides signals from real use after release. One test report only records some checks at one time and cannot replace production monitoring.

What decision monitoring enables

Choose signals that reflect user health: Login error rate, checkout success rate, request latency, and key logs show whether people are affected. Metrics need a time range and threshold, not a dashboard no one can judge.

An alert should return to runtime facts: When an anomaly appears, inspect the version, related requests, and scope, then decide to pause, disable a flag, roll back, or fix forward. Monitoring detects and supports judgment; it does not repair by itself.

You can say this to an AI Agent

Configure production monitoring for login and checkout: define error-rate or success-rate thresholds and alerting, and associate alerts with the running version and related requests. Check these after release; when a threshold is crossed, specify whether to disable a feature flag or roll back.

Ten minutes after a release, login error rate rises from 1% to 18%. Which response best uses monitoring?

A. Correlate when the anomaly started, affected requests, and the running version, then decide whether to disable a flag or roll backB. Check the one-hour average first; if it is still low, keep watching without correlating a versionC. Roll back immediately at 18% without checking the new version, external login service, or metric definition
