Enqueue

You might say

After upload, do not keep the page waiting. Enqueue the transcoding task, return a task ID, and let me check its status later.

Enqueue puts work into a queue so a request can receive a task ID before a later processor runs itAfter someone uploads a video, the API can enqueue a transcoding task and return a task ID while the page shows queued, processing, or completed. Batch notifications can use the same pattern. A successful enqueue means the queue accepted the task, not that transcoding or delivery has finished; queues also do not automatically promise FIFO ordering or exactly-once processing.

Queue acceptance is not task completion

Avoid blocking the request: If the upload request performs transcoding directly, the user waits and a processing failure can look like an upload failure. Enqueueing accepts the task and returns its ID first.

Bring status back: A later processor updates queued, processing, completed, or failed state. The page looks up those results with the task ID; failures can be retried or reported under the system rules.

Improvement is observable: The upload request finishes sooner, status changes are visible, and failures are tied to a task. Enqueueing still does not promise FIFO order or exactly-once processing.

You can say this to an AI Agent

Enqueue the transcoding task after upload and return a trackable task ID immediately. Show queued, processing, completed, and failed states. Verify that the task enters the queue, failures reach status lookup, and enqueue success is not shown as transcoding completion.

A. Show completed because the task was successfully written to the queueB. Keep the upload request open until transcoding finishes, then return the task IDC. Show queued or processing, and use the task ID to check later status
